The Amateur Blogger thinks we’re all doing time.

But is life about paying for things we’re given? About being given things because we’ve done the time? Life’s not about doing time, it’s about doing things!

You can be contented with what you have. You can be sure that what you’re doing is right, is what you want. But things will never stay the way they are. There’s no such thing as ‘settled’. Settle. Also means to compromise. To bargain. If you’ve settled, if you’ve made all the compromises there are to make, there can’t be much left to life. Can there? And life is the process of bargaining, not of fulfilling bargains made.

All we can want from life is that it doesn’t run out of challenges. All we can give to it is to meet them. To ask for more is to expect the impossible; to ask for less, cowardly. To think you can give more is foolhardy; to give less is to give up.

I think I made up that last paragraph; if I didn’t, apologies to whoever I stole it from.

AB is right, though: most people think other people have had it easy. It’s those of us who think we’re lucky for not having had it easier, that come out on top. And that’s why, BikerGirl, I won’t argue with you any more.

Truly increases your bargaining power if you’re never gonna fulfill them…. 🙂

All we can want from life is that it doesn’t run out of challenges.

It’s still a want, which not met, can cause dissatisfaction and you end up doing time till you get to your next challenge.

The idea is not about a thing to get, but more about a state to be in, which could be a state of being in the fight, being constantly challenged!

  2. No answers, AB; or is it too many answers?

  3. it is after all….the answer to life, the universe and everything.
Did someone tell you I was obsessed with it?

  4. No, Kanny, but it’s nice to know!! 😉
